Perhaps more than any other season, fall is known as a season of change. In that spirit, I’m thrilled to announce that Black River United Way is joining United Way Worldwide in a refreshed brand!

You may have noticed some changes to our email newsletter and social media pages and in the coming weeks and months, you’ll see additional refreshed branding across our website, social media posts, and print communications. I am so excited about our new look and United Way’s new brand strategy, reflecting a transformative approach forward for not only Black River United Way, but for the more than 1,100 local United Ways in our network.
Underpinning the revitalized brand are four impact areas – youth opportunity, healthy community, financial security, and community resiliency – that highlight United Way Worldwide's expertise and unwavering commitment to the communities we serve.
Black River United Way’s initiatives support two of these impact areas:
The Waccamaw Region For Childhood Success advances United Way’s Youth Opportunity focus. Through our work to respond to early childhood needs in ages birth through 9, we join in United Way Worldwide’s collective efforts to help young people realize their full potential - from cradle to career.
Disaster Resiliency supports United Way’s Community Resiliency focus. By helping our neighbors weather the storm through disaster preparation and recovery, we advance United Way Worldwide’s collective efforts to address urgent needs today for a better tomorrow.
As we adapt to messaging in step with United Way Worldwide’s comprehensive focus areas of Youth Opportunity and Community Resiliency, you’ll see changes in how we (Black River United Way) discuss our initiatives. While the way we communicate about our work will change - the impact we make together will only grow.
By aligning with the global brand refresh, and further unifying with our global network, Black River United Way will be better equipped to tackle the unique needs of our community and drive meaningful change in the lives of individuals and families here in our community. This strategic branding approach helps us to better amplify the impact we are having in kindergarten readiness, third grade reading success, disaster preparation and recovery, and resource connection in Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties.
Additionally, United Way is rolling out a new branding campaign theme, "United is the Way™.” “United is the Way” is a declarative statement of purpose, inviting all people and communities to take action and make a bigger impact, together.
This campaign is centered around the belief that a future where everyone thrives is possible and that United is the Way. In Georgetown County, Williamsburg County, and beyond, United is the Way to youth opportunity and a resilient community, by ensuring early childhood success and disaster preparedness and recovery.
As we approach the season of giving, I hope you’ll join me in embracing “United is the Way” as a charge to get involved, give back, and take action in your community. Together, we can make an incredible difference and reach a future where everyone thrives.
United is the Way,
Yolanda McCray
