Did you know that Black River United Way funds our community’s access to 211? 211 is the most comprehensive source of information about local resources and services in the country. 211 operates as both a website and hotline where thousands of caring, local experts are available to help, 24/7. Calls to 211 are confidential and can be anonymous.
In 2023, 978 calls and 126 texts were made to 211 by Georgetown and Williamsburg County residents. Top-requested needs in our community were electric (27% of calls), rent (17% of calls), shelters (11% of calls), affordable housing (8% of calls), home rehabilitation (7% of calls), and other needs (29% of calls) such as food pantries, legal aid, eviction prevention. Callers were referred to 1,794 resources, with an average of 1.8 referrals per call. Calls to 211 were up 22% from 2023. 211's increased usage over time highlights the importance of this resource in our community.
